Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Renewable energy solutions are increasingly recognized as vital for sustainable development, addressing energy poverty, and mitigating climate change. In Shendam Local Government Area (LGA), Plateau State, the adoption of renewable energy technologies has been slow due to limited awareness, misconceptions, and infrastructural challenges. Public relations (PR) strategies can play a pivotal role in creating awareness, educating communities, and promoting the benefits of renewable energy. PR campaigns leverage media, community outreach, and stakeholder collaboration to foster acceptance and adoption of renewable energy solutions. As noted by Adeyemi and Johnson (2024), effective PR strategies are instrumental in driving behavioral change and encouraging sustainable energy practices. This study explores the role of PR in creating awareness about renewable energy solutions in Shendam LGA.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
